Lovely Letters | November 2014

This month I’m super excited to co-host the Lovely Letters Snail Mail program with Esther.

What is Lovely Letters Snail Mail?

It’s basically a pen pal program where you get to know other bloggers. Esther will pair you with another blogger and then y’all can get to know each other through email or social media. You’ll then mail them a small package according to the month’s theme. Every month there’s a different theme. For example, last month’s theme was “fall/Halloween”. This is a great program to meet other bloggers. For December, instead of sending a package, you will send your partner 1 handwritten card and 1 blank card for them to give to someone else!

This month’s theme is “gratitude”, which I love! I always need a reminder of things to be thankful for especially when things don’t go my way. This month, I was paired with lovely Elizabeth and Feng Lin, both located in Singapore. It was suppose to be a three way swap, meaning I would send Elizabeth a package, Elizabeth would send Feng Lin a package, and Feng Lin would send me a package. But since we all enjoyed getting to know each other, we decided to send both person a package!

As I was preparing this package, it was a good chance for me to reflect on what I should be thankful for and not to take everything for granted. I usually don’t like to post pictures of what I included in my package since I like them to be a “surprise” for my pen pals but since they’re located in Singapore this time, it’ll be two weeks before the packages arrive. So I decided to provide y’all a “sneak peek” into some of items I included in the package.

Lovely Letters | September 2014

It’s that time of the month — Lovely Letters September 2014 edition! For those that are new, Lovely Letters is a pen pal program with other bloggers, hosted by Esther. Every month there’s a new theme and you mail them something according to that theme.

This month’s theme was “comfort”. My partner was lovely Janis from Atlanta, GA! It’s been a joy getting to know her through her blog and email. I love reading about her experience teaching English in Turkey and her testimonies. This was a perfect theme for us since she just got back from Turkey so I hope my package gave her some comfort while she adjust to life back in the states. I know it’s tough moving away from home, especially to a new country. When I was making Janis’s package, I thought of when I first moved to Boston and I didn’t know anyone and what brought me comfort. I really enjoyed this month’s theme since I was able to reminisce on my time in Boston.

Lovely Letters Sept 2014What was inside the package she sent me:
  • Turkish delights – yummy sweets!
  • Pocky sticks – one of my favorite snacks! Good thing there was two packets inside so I was able to share one with my husband 🙂
  • Face sheet masks – I thought it was funny how she sent me face sheet masks since I also sent her one too! I love face sheet masks!
  • Pretty bright pink nail polish
  • Small Rome journal book
  • Stationary – OMG i can’t believe she loves stationary since I do too! I love how she sent me all different types of stationary. One of my favorite things when I’m traveling is visiting different paper / book stores to check out their paper goods. My husband also proposed to me by giving me a greeting card everyday for 3 months before finally proposing. So yeah, stationary has a soft spot in my heart 🙂

Lovely Letters Sept 2014 2I have to say, when I open the package and saw the Rome journal book she gave me I was shock and excited. I have the Paris version of the journal book (on the left). I carry this journal with me whenever I travel internationally and even domestic now. When I was in Rome and Barcelona this summer, I was trying to find a version of this journal in those city but was unsuccessful. Who would have thought, by random or fate, my pen pal would send me the journal I’ve been looking for. So thank you Janis! I guess we were meant to be paired together 🙂

This month I’m super excited to co-host the Lovely Letters Snail Mail program with Esther.

You’ll then mail them a small package according to the month’s theme. Every month there’s a different theme. For example, last month was “ocean blue”. This is a great program to meet other bloggers.

The theme for this month was “hometown”. This was my favorite theme so far since it since it reminded me of my wedding favors (we bought something to represent each city we lived in). My partner is lovely Judy from sunny California! She is one of the sweetest person I’ve met and reading her blog just made me feel closer to God and her. I’m thankful to be paired with another sister in Christ 🙂

Lovely Letters Aug 2014 1What was inside the package:

  • Face sheet masks since she knows I love them from my blog.
  • Kelp soap to help scrub off dead skin cells, just like when she and her mom used to visit public bathhouse in Korea. Super excited to try this!
  • Scripture magnet and trinket from China when she was on her mission trip.
  • Purple nail polish since she’s a nail addict and to match my yellow dress. Isn’t she so sweet and thoughtful?!
  • Postcard of downtown Oakland, which is where she was from.

Lovely Letters Aug 2014 3My favorite part of the package was this card and the message she wrote in it. I love getting personal with people and this just made my heart grow fonder of her.
